As one of the original exhibitors at the ATS International Conference, MGC Diagnostics has a long history of supporting the ATS and the cardiorespiratory diagnostic market. Through the years, the company has cultivated long-standing relationships that often make the conference feel more like a family reunion than a business event.
"We focus on the importance of relationships One of the things we value is the friendships developed over decades of collaboration, allowing us to treat our customers like family. We attend the ATS conference to release new products and features, but we’re really here to give back to the Society and say thank you to our colleagues and friends, and to ask about their families,” said Todd Austin, CEO of MGC Diagnostics.
MGC Diagnostics is a global medical technology company with headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Sorinnes, Belgium, that develops, manufactures, and markets non-invasive diagnostic systems for the detection, classification, and management of cardiorespiratory disease.
This year, as MGC Diagnostics celebrates 40 years of dedication to providing cardiorespiratory diagnostic solutions, Mr. Austin reflects on personally attending the conference since 1983, when he was a respiratory science student. He has seen numerous professionals come into their own during his time as an exhibitor, either as physicians and researchers or innovators and business leaders.
“We knew each other as students and rookies and now many are MDs, PhDs, and leaders of our industry. That’s what I mean by when we come to the event, it’s not just to support the profession and scientific advancements, but because of the friendships you develop over time,” Mr. Austin said.
He said there are many reasons MGC Diagnostics prioritizes attendance at this conference, even though it attends a dozen global trade shows each year.
“It’s one of our primary domestic conferences. The ATS has always been a leader in this industry. It’s their members who provide clinical and scientific guidance that establishes global standards-of-care. Attending this conference is our way to offer support and dedication to the membership. It’s our way of giving back to the community that supports us as customers,” Mr. Austin said.
Another way MGC gives back is by supporting two awards at the conference. It wholly supports the Dr. Robert Crapo Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award in Pulmonary Diagnostics, whose recipient manifests a lifetime dedication and accomplishment in the study of pulmonary diagnostic testing. The company also cosupports the Joseph R. Rodarte Award for Scientific Distinction. This award recognizes an established investigator who has made distinguished contributions in the fields of respiratory medicine or physiology. “Both were friends and mentors who helped shape my career,” said Mr. Austin.
At ATS 2017, MGC will showcase the Resmon Pro FOT, a device engineered for non-invasive evaluation of pulmonary airway mechanics. The company also will highlight its data management and workflow solutions, new modular cardiorespiratory systems, and numerous enhancements to its existing products.
Attendees who visit the MGC booth can expect staff on hand to answer questions not only about products specific to MGC, but who can offer expert consultation for clinical applications and cardiorespiratory business needs, too.
“The first of a series of new diagnostic equipment standards was released this year and attendees will want to know what has changed and how the manufacturers will update equipment to meet the new standards,” said Mr. Austin. “We’ll be ready to help them.”
You can visit MGC Diagnostics at ATS 2017 May 19-24 in Washington, D.C. at booth 325.
